TUCKAHOE, N.Y. As part of an interdisciplinary initiative in the eighth-grade at Tuckahoe Middle School, the district welcomed Jay Sommer, survivor of a Nazi labor camp, on Tuesday. Sommer met with students to discuss his experiences, from his youth in Czechoslovakia, through his escape from a Nazi labor camp, to immigrating to the U.S. and being honored as National Teacher of the Year in 1981.
