New questions have been raised about the safety of a controversial project in Tuckahoe that will convert an old marble quarry and landfill into a hotel. Critics of the proposed Springhill Suites Hotel have been concerned about possible contamination at the site since the project came to light, but the concern came to a head Wednesday after people spotted aerosol cans in the soil at 109 Marbledale Road.

Teen Charged With Assault Following Bloody Fight In Scarsdale, Police Say

Following a lengthy investigation into an assault that took place at the Freightway Garage last month, Scarsdale police have arrested a pair of Eastchester residents for their roles in a fight that left a woman's face bloody. Police have arrested Tuckahoe resident Bruno Bertozzi, 21 and 19-year-old Eastchester resident Jasmin Rodriguez for their roles in a Jan. 21 incident turned violent, Chief Andrew Matturro said on Tuesday.

Southampton locals rally behind shopping center

Some 100 locals from tony Southampton, New York, gathered outside Town Hall yesterday to show their support for the building of a grocery-anchored center in the Tuckahoe neighborhood, according to Newsday. Demonstrators wearing "Yes Tuckahoe Shopping Center" T-shirts argued that the King Kullen supermarket proposed for the project would give them easier access to affordable groceries.

Eastchester Chamber Hosts Ribbon Cutting for The Chocolate Box Cafe

The Eastchester/Tuckahoe Chamber of Commerce with town Mayor Steven A. Ecklond welcomed the Chocolate Box Cafe to the business community with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, Jan. 27. The ceremony was held at the Cafe on 300-A Columbus Avenue in Tuckahoe, where it opened in September last year. "We're pleased to have the Chocolate Box Cafe as a Chamber member," said Chamber President Paul Okura.
